Every person has a coming of age story, and anymore many are perpetually living it. For some life is a linear climb the idols of the material known to all guiding them but even with all the dressings that modern civilization can provide one who attracts them, they are as animals running on instinct seeking pleasure above the soul, while they will meet their end the same as every human on earth. It seems due to the interconnectedness of our contemporary age in the past two generations that society itself has shirked ancient values of honor and integrity over the fleeting opinions of others who value outward success. But such a life is fragile, as one mistake or calamity can either take away all that was afforded to them or make such a society too close to mortality to care about this recent abstraction. And this really applies to those who need not fret about survival which despite all global media acting on the assumption this is a thing of the past is a small portion of humanity. Likewise the institutions which have weathered centuries of turmoil find themselves at odds in a world where traditional decorum has no match for sudden organization of crowds truly present or virtually, eroding any authority of the old order. This in effect coupled with the automation of discernment itself has put the moral authority in the hands of not those with the character to wield it, but the electronic infrastructure to power it. Perhaps we are in a transitional period in human history it seems on par with the bronze age collapse or the fall of idol worshiping empires, as in the pocket between the last millennia up until now most men knew there was a higher power in the universe beyond anything they could experience while living is coming to an end. Now in an age where one is inundated with such information nearly straight out of the womb, this coupled with the algorithmic influence shaping one's convictions logically leads to humanity being divided into three castes: those who are herded by this information completely predictably from cradle to grave, those who can live independently of it, and those with the means to exert their will through this information. What could such a world look like one may wonder, it is already established this way and arguably always has been. Thousands of years ago most people thought the statutes were living deities who would regularly speak to them, and now people think they have an insight that really was impressed upon them from a targeted commercial psychological entrancement. The difficulty in guarding oneself from this is much more difficult than in the past as the technological progression in terms of how much an object can hijack your will seems exponential. War in hundreds of years will not be advanced weapons fighting each other but convincing the mentally enslaved to be slaughtered by a piece of equipment that exceeds their lifetime economic utility to society all pre-calculated on a server somewhere. Maybe this is already here, will be here, or was here all along if you see it as a battle of the spiritual versus the material, where ancient eschatology all seems to point to a singularity event with technology where the collective human will simply cannot resist it any longer even if doomsday can be thought of as local instances unique to each person's life regardless of the era they existed or will exist.
