Idk, proper browser... Proper OS? Idk which one. It should keep tabs that aren't really used (i.e. not present on the screen or aren't playing videos) in swap. Like each tab is a subprocess, and it should get lower priority once it is in the background. I think Windows is capable of doing it. Safari on Mac OS X (or even Firefox, don't remember) actively does it. Or Mac OS does it, I don't honestly know. So as a result you're not wasting any real RAM if amount of tabs is too large.
Also the lock screen is covered in clickbait 'news' and applets... on a corporate PC.
That obviously doesn't help, but... You know. Mac OS X isn't exactly lighweight, on cold boot it can consume 4-5 GB of RAM (out of 8)? It is not your LXQT desktop or i3 or whatever. What is most fascinating is how Mac OS manages memory. It's elegant I would say. Compress pages, really old pages go to swap if conditions are met. And all of this is aware of GUI situation (background or foreground). Linux can do memory compression and "temperature" sorting, sorta... But it is not aware about GUI... because there is no GUI for Linux, it's an afterthought.

But yeah, I have bought macbook neo after my shitbook got Win10 update... It told me "replace computer" (because I am not fucking dumb, secureboot off, TPM off so bitch doesn't even try to update)... but since I can't read I bought one with Apple. I mean originally I wanted a desktop but prices man. First I couldn't get CPU, then RAM went up in price... Except for fucking OEMs, they still get it for the old price, judging by price difference between 8GB and 16GB laptops with identical specs. So I nearly bought random acer shitbook... but then I decided to pay $100 more and bought applel. No regrets at all. But that is story for a different time.
I don't know what the fuck Microsoft is doing. They would become bankrupt in 3-4 years if this shit continues. I mean they were always making shit OSes, but not intentionally... Now they are just dumping an entire contents of sewage treatment plant onto you.
